CHEESE SOUFFLÉ

As a nod to the 80's, especially 1989, this month Adie uses Burger Wisconsin's all natural block Colby cheddar cheese to make a tasty baked Cheese Soufflé.

Soufflé gained popularity in the 1980's as a dish to impress guests. It was perceived to be a tricky dish to make, but using Adie's recipe below you will discover how easy a Soufflé is to whip up.

My mother-in-law, Philly, sent me this recipe when I first went to Greece and got a job as a cook on a yacht. Fair to say I was as surprised as the guests when the soufflé emerged from the oven in all its glory, risen to a great height, light and fluffy inside and utterly delicious.

At Burger Wisconsin we only use New Zealand natural whole milk matured block cheeses. We use the block Colby Cheddar, creamy Camembert plus the tangy Blue Cheese in your burgers.

Other burger outlets often use processed cheeses [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Processed_cheese] that may often contain additives, emulsifiers and extras you don't want to eat. Often their processed cheese slice is only 50-60% cheese, which is why their cheese burgers lack the distinctive flavour & texture of natural whole milk cheese.

Salvador Dali and Camembert

The surrealist Spanish painter, Salvador Dali, was inspired by Camembert cheese.

the-persistence-of-memory.jpg

On a hot summers day while painting he noticed his camembert, leftover from lunch, had melted. Coupled with a dream of clocks, the camembert was inspiration for "The Persistence of Memory", painted in 1931. The painting was from his period of comparing 'softness' and 'hardness'. The painting is one of his more famous pieces and hangs in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Ponsonby Store nearly lost to out of control driver

mercedes-mincemeat.jpgWe nearly lost our Ponsonby store when a driver had a diabetic attack and drove off Ponsonby road into the shop next door. The Gods were smiling on us, as we only lost our flag, luckily no one was injured.

Beer Festival

Burger Wisconsin provided our great burgers at the recent Beer Festival.

beer-fest-1.jpg

The Liquorland Beer Festival is a showcase of many boutique beers and brewers from around New Zealand. If you like a cleansing ale the Beer Festival is an event for you.

Unfortunately the Wellington weather was terrible. It rained all day. While there were not many keen beer drinkers braving the weather, those that did had a great day sampling beers, eating burgers and dancing to the bands in the rain.

Our team soldiered on serving the people with the best burgers.

Check it out next year.
